Home break: Lawrencetown
Off the board: Outside of surfing, she’s studying to be a Certified Somatic Sex Educator, volunteers with the Consent Kitties, and loves music festivals, hunting and fishing with her boyfriend, kayaking and biking with her son, and camping and dinner parties with family and friends.
Dream break: Fiji
Jade started her own business in 2016, with the desire to make more space for the joys in life. She had tried surfing in Australia, Costa Rica and New Zealand and finally some friends invited her to surf in Nova Scotia, so she joined and just fell in love with the freedom the ocean and the board brings, along with the flexibility of making her own office hours.
In 2018, she moved to Lawrencetown, which opened up even more opportunities to surf, and she soon realized surfing was her nervous system regulation and an important part of her self-love and self-care. When she became a single, nearly full-time parent in 2020, surfing became one of the sacred things that was “just for her,” and she made it a goal to get out once a week over the summer.
It's effort to surf, the prep, the drive out, getting in, getting out, and on the days it would be easier to stay home, clean the house, get the groceries, work a little longer, she remembers that her body NEEDS the ocean, on the board, waves or no waves, it's where she feels the most alive.
