Melanie grew up in New Brunswick with a love of the ocean and an adventurous spirit. When she was 9 years old, her family took a trip to Florida and one night they walked over to Miami Beach. The moon lit up the entire ocean, and suddenly she could see a young man surfing a wave. She thought it was the coolest thing ever and knew she had to try it one day.
Years later, after travelling across Canada, Melanie moved back to the East Coast in 2017 and took her first surf lesson. She kept her promise to herself and was hooked. Surfing is perfect for her. It keeps her moving, connected to the ocean, and it's so much fun!
There's something magical about a sunrise surf. It brings her calm and feels peaceful. A surf instructor once told her to fight for the things she loves, and she carries that with her both in and out of the water.
